Amir Khan is one of the perfect actor in the entertainment world. Recently, on June 20, 2025, he released his new film, called “Sitaare Zameen Par”. The movie belongs to that rare third category. As someone who has followed Aamir’s career, I saw the film with a lot of expectation. And guess what, I am delighted with the film. This is a film that has a beautiful story, and today we are going to talk about it.
Not a Sequel, But a Soulful Continuation Of “Tare Zameen Par”
Many people have wondered for sure that the film is a sequel to the 2007 release “Taare Zameen Par”. But let me be clear here, it is not a sequel at all, it’s just another film with a similar concept and story. While the first focused on a child struggling with dyslexia, Sitaare turns the spotlight on a group of young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
In the “Sitaare Zameen Par”, Aamir Khan has played the character of Kabir, a once arrogant basketball coach who ends up coaching a team of differently-abled players. He thinks of them as a punishment, but they came into his life as a miracle and changed his life. To know more, everyone needs to watch the film first in the theatre.
Meet the Real Stars of “Sitaare Zameen Par”
While Amir Khan is the real gem in the film, its other cast steals the attention in the film. They outshine the performance of Amir Khan in the film. I can say that the real magic of the film lies in the assembled cast of the film. Many of the young actors are first-timers, portraying neurodivergent characters with a kind of raw honesty that’s both refreshing and rare in mainstream Indian cinema.
With the film Gemelia D’Souza is also making her comeback on the screen after 3 years. She played the role of special education expert, offering warmth to the film. Her chemistry with Amir Khan is sincere and cute, and her character in the film makes it more interesting to watch.
R.S. Prasanna’s Thoughtful Direction
R.S. Prasanna is the name of the director of the film. In the past, he also directed the film Subh Mangaal Savdhan. The movie can be easily slipped into a melodrama or preachiness, but he makes it more emotional and personal. As a director, he lets the story of the film breathe. The humour is organic, the emotional beats feel earned, and the camera lingers just long enough to capture the humanity in every frame.
All the visuals in the film are very comforting and very easy to watch on a big screen. There is a softness to G.Srinivas Reddy’s cinematography that complements the narrative’s tone. The music in the film was composed by Shankar Ehsan-Loy, and Ram Sampath serves as an emotional bridge between the audience and the film.
Is The Film Is Copy Of the Spanish Film “Champions”
Now comes the elephant in the film, the film is a copy of the 2018 release Spanish film “Champions”. I can say yes, it did seem a remake of the film, which is also confirmed by Amir Khan in his recent interview and podcast. But it is a frame-to-frame remake of the film; the answer is no. The film has some “desi” touch, which makes it more relatable to the audience. The film did make you cry and laugh throughout, and that is the best part of it.
Final Verdict Over The Film “Sitaare Zameen Par”
Now, the question here is whether the film is worth watching or not. The answer is yes, anyone can see the film with their family and friends. The film is safe and very cute to watch. It has some sensitivity towards disabled people, and it has shown their struggle very beautiful. Aamir Khan has once again chosen a subject that matters. For families, educators, and anyone who believes in the power of inclusive storytelling, this film is worth watching and most important it is worth to discuss. I can say that this is a kind of film which can be mentioned as one of the underrated and comforting film in the coming time just like Aamir Khan’s previous films.
As per me as a watcher of the film, it get 4.5 rating out of 5. One point I cut is because of the music which I feel can be done more beautifully.
